Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In the month of October, Ari Lennox released her Pho EP. The EP was where she was recognized. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 following the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she continued to upload her music via the internet including her independently released single Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The announcement that she would be signed to Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. On the 9th of November, she released another two singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On November 13, she released two additional singles entitled No One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. In February of 2019 the music video for the track debuted. The track has garnered more than three million YouTube views in just a single week. She supported 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
